As of the 31st December 2009, 442 403 persons (126 713 of them women, i.e. 28.6 %) in the Czech Republic were employed in jobs that carried a potential health risk (category 2R, 3, and 4). Most individuals working in a risk environment were in the Moravian-Silesian region (83 888) even in the relative number per 100 000 inhabitants. 86 % of employees were in risk category 3, 11 % were in risk category 2 and 3 % were in risk category 4. The most frequent risk factor were – noise (40 % of subjects), – dust (12 %), and – physical load (11 %). In the Czec republic 1,313 occupational diseases were reported in 2009 (occupational diseases and persons endangered by an occupational disease). Most occupational diseases were brought on through physical load and vibration, where effective personal protection was not provided for the employee, and where an original occupational disease was not detected in time despite preventive examinations within the framework of occupational-medical care.
