PSA AND EARLY DETECTION OF PROSTATE CARCINOMA

Overview
Prostate carcinoma is the most frequent malignant disease in men over 50 in the Czech Republic, yet there is no standardized prostate carcinoma (CaP) screening program in place. One of the options to detect early CaP in its early stages is PSA (prostate specific antigen) screening. Age specific PSA, fPSA/PSA ratio, PSAV or PSA DT should be used. Clear benefit of surgical treatment has been shown in localized stages of CaP in men up to 65 years of age.
