Overview
The paper discusses radical orchiectomy, or organ sparing surgery in primary treatment of testicular cancer. Detailed histological examination of section tissue is a prerequisite for subsequent therapeutic steps. We assess the therapeutic options in seminomas and non-seminomatous tumors according to the clinical stage of the disease. The paper tackles the role of radiotherapy, retroperitoneal lymph node dissection, front-line chemotherapy, as well as the place of post-chemotherapy surgery and the options of other lines of chemotherapeutic regimens in the treatment algorithm and the prognosis of the illness according to prognostic factors.
