Overview

Most ureteral injuries are iatrogenic. Our experience with ureteral reconstruction involves these injures, chronic stricture disease and reconstruction after resection of ureteral tumors. Ureteral injuries from external violent trauma are much rarer. However, traumatic ureteral injuries deserve special consideration because the presentation is different, the patients are more acutely ill, and the indicatins for imaging and repair are unique. We discuss the incidence of ureteral injuries, patient presentation, indications for radiological evaluation and options for surgical management.

KEY WORDS:
ureteral injuries, iatrogenic injuries of ureter
