Bulky angiomyolipoma in the right kidney in a young woman

Overview
Angiomyolipomas are benign renal tumours occurring very sporadically or in association with tuberous sclerosis or lymphangiomyomatosis. The highest prevalence is in patients between 40 and 60 years and it is more common in females. Angiomyolipomas consists of adipose tissue, thin-walled vessels and smooth muscle tissue. It appears as a yellowish focus bulging under the renal capsule. The most common clinical manifestation is haematuria. This condition can be complicated with so-called Wunderlich syndrome. Diagnostics is based on renal ultrasound or CT examination. The treatment depends on the focus size. We present a case study of a young female patient presenting with bulky solitary angiomyolipoma in the right kidney.
