Intraoperational course, early complications and functional outcome in robotic-assisted AND OPEN RADICAL PROSTATECTOMY – A COMPARISON

In development of miniinvasive approaches as laparoscopy and robotics is frequently pushed forward theory that retropubic radical prostatectomy is declining an importance. Few studies comparing retropubic radical prostatectomy with miniinvasive procedures as robotic assisted radical prostatectomy or laparoscopic prostatectomy are available until today. Authors due to development of Centre for Miniinvasive and Robotic Surgery in St. Ann´s Teaching Hospital in Brno tried to compare results of retropubic radical prostatectomy with robotic assisted procedure. Peroperative oncological and functional results of both procedures were evaluated, using identical follow up algorithms and parameters of evaluation [1,3–4].
