The authors review literature knowledge dealing with the production of cerumen, itschemical and biochemical composition, protective and antibacterial properties as well as questionsconcerning heredity of individual forms of cerumen. The paper represents a basis for a widerclinical study, which is intended to deal with cerumen in greater detail.
