Due to the prolonging life expectancy and decreasing mortality number of older patients with chronic skin ulcers is growing steadily. New materials for chronic wound care resulted in significant improvement of treatment results. Despite their use we face treatment failure in some cases. In this article we present 2 case studies for which assessment of nutritional status and nutritional support were beneficial and positively influenced wound healing process in older patients.
