Overview
A 8-year-old-white boy was examined for fatigue, headache and hypertension. Abnormal laboratory parame-ters were hypokalaemia, hypernatraemia, hypocalcaemia, decreased plasma renin activity and low concentrationof blood aldosterone. Liddle’s syndrome was diagnosed. This very rare disease is caused by mutations in the betaor gamma sub-unit of the sodium channel - amiloride sensitive in the distal tubulus. For the therapy decreasedintake of sodium, increased intake of potassium and antihypertensive drugs (amiloride or triamterene) isrecommended.
