News Minimally Invasive Treatment of Pilonidal Sinus: Laser and Negative Pressure Therapy as a Gentle and Effective Modality
The increasing incidence of pilonidal sinus contributes to the development of new treatment methods. The Proton Therapy Center in Prague (PTC − Proton Therapy Center Czech) is a modern healthcare facility specializing in the treatment of oncological diseases using so-called proton radiotherapy. This therapy is covered by public health insurance in indicated cases. Since its opening in 2012, PTC has treated nearly 10,000 patients, not only from the Czech Republic and Slovakia. Therapeutic options for multiple sclerosis in the pediatric population are limited. However, in June 2021, teriflunomide was approved for the treatment of relapsing-remitting multiple sclerosis (RRMS) in pediatric patients aged 10–17 years in the European Union. The basis for this registration was the favorable results of the TERIKIDS study, which we summarize below. Interstitial lung processes (ILD) are common yet insufficiently diagnosed complications of rheumatoid arthritis (RA), significantly increasing the morbidity and mortality of patients. ILD can occur at any stage of RA, presenting a diverse clinical picture. Usual interstitial pneumonia (UIP) and nonspecific interstitial pneumonia (NSIP) are the most common findings on high-resolution CT (HRCT). Some patients with RA-associated ILD may exhibit a progressive phenotype characterized by expanding fibrotic changes on HRCT, declining lung function, worsening respiratory symptoms, and early mortality.
