Regular aerobic exercise is generally recommended for patients suffering from arterial hypertension to reduce blood pressure values, improve physical fitness, and other parameters. The intensity of exercise is most often derived from the target heart rate, which is pharmacologically influenced in patients on beta-blockers. The question, therefore, is whether aerobic exercise brings the same cardiovascular benefit to this group of patients as it does to those not taking beta-blockers.

STADA PHARMA CZ is introducing a new system for continuous delivery of 3 active substances for the treatment of advanced stages of Parkinson's disease (PD) to the Czech market. It is one of the major innovations in the care of PD patients in the last two decades. The drug, which STADA acquired the rights to in 2020, had already been introduced in the Nordic countries where this treatment is successfully underway. In the Czech Republic, it has been fully covered since April 1, 2022.

The Proton Therapy Center in Prague (PTC − Proton Therapy Center Czech) is a modern healthcare facility specializing in the treatment of oncological diseases using so-called proton radiotherapy. This therapy is covered by public health insurance in indicated cases. Since its opening in 2012, PTC has treated nearly 10,000 patients, not only from the Czech Republic and Slovakia. In 2019, it became part of the National Oncology Center.

News Thrombocytopenia Following mRNA Vaccination Against SARS-CoV-2

In connection with the administration of mRNA-based vaccines against the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus, cases of secondary immune thrombocytopenia (ITP) have been described. A commentary published by a large team of authors in the American Journal of Hematology described a series of cases of low platelet counts identified within 2 weeks of vaccination. The data was obtained from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), and the Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System (VAERS), as well as through direct communication with patients and their physicians.

News Lurasidone in a Patient with Paranoid Schizophrenia and Asperger's Syndrome – A Case Study

Lurasidone is an effective and very gentle antipsychotic which is establishing a prominent position in modern psychopharmacotherapy. Its unique receptor profile makes it a suitable choice for hyperprolactinemia induced by risperidone. A significant benefit of lurasidone is its favorable cardiometabolic profile. Switching from another antipsychotic to lurasidone can be performed on an outpatient basis. Most importantly, it is essential to highlight its effect on both positive and negative symptoms of schizophrenia, as demonstrated by the presented case study.
