Chronic Eustachian tube (ET) dysfunction prevalence is 1% in adults and 40% in children. Variety of pathologies can be developed from inadequate ET function. The most severe are chronic otitis media with effusion and chronic otitis media with cholesteatoma. Authors present new therapeutic option for chronic ET dysfunction – balloon Eustachian tuboplasty (BET). The method was first described in 2010-2011 and it is based on dilation of the ET via the transnasal endoscopic approach using single-use balloon catheter. This new method is mainly used in adults. Results of present studies consider the BET safe and promising treatment option for chronic Eustachian tube dysfunction.
