Overview
Negative impact of the extraesophageal reflux on the laryngeal mucosa have is generally known. Its existence and severity can be examined by 24hour dual-probe pH-metry. This examination is not commonly used in clinical settings, hence history and examination of the larynx are methods used for examination of extraesophageal reflux. Mucosal changes can be rated by Reflux finding score proposed by Belafsky. This system enables to standardize mucosal changes and also enables to appraise treatment efficacy.
