Overview

The authors present a group of children with severe respiratory failure of varying etiology where partial liquidventilation (PLV) was administered seven times. Perfluorocarbon (PFC) Rimar RM 101 was used. Within threehours of PLV a significant rise of pH and PaO2/FiO2 was achieved and reduction of FiO2 and the oxygenationindex. Administration of PFC was not associated with any complications. PLV is an effective method in ARDS insome groups of patients.
