Overview
Nonhealing wounds are a major health problem, especially in the geriatric population. In the Czech Republic, the number of patients suffering from diabetic ulcerations, decubitus ulcers, tibial ulcers and post-traumatic wounds is constantly increasing, which is related, among other things, to the demographic ageing of the population. This article provides an overview of the epidemiology, risk factors, prevention and treatment of such wounds in elderly patients based on a literature review of available studies. The article focuses on key aspects of modern chronic wound care in geriatric patients.
