Overview
Myocarditis is a disease characterized by inflammatory infiltrate of the heart muscle with or without necrosis. It has variety of infectious and non-infectious causes. The most common cause of myocarditis is a viral infection. Viral myocarditis is an important cause of a non-ischemic myopathy. Despite therapy, which is comprehensive, the prognosis of myocarditis is serious. The case presents a 83-year old geriatric frail patient with viral myocarditis with a moderate course.
