Pulmonary embolism as a paraneoplastic symptom of choroid melanoma

Overview
Paraneoplastic syndromes are symptoms that accompany cancer. They may signal the presence of a tumour even before the tumour itself is diagnosed. Thrombotic complications may accompany cancer in up to 20 % of cases. The case study describes an unusual case of a 74 year old man hospitalized for a bilateral pulmonary embolism in Department of Cardiology, who was subsequently diagnosed with a malignant melanoma of the choroid.
