Overview

The authors present a review of changes in the digestive tract caused by advancing age - changesin the structure and function on the oral cavity, oesophagus and other organs, interactionthese changes with medication. Attention is devoted to gastric affections in advanced age andtypical changes affecting the colon. Special attention is paid to the problem of diarrhoea andconstipation in patients of advanced age. In the subsequent part the authors analyze theinfluence of the described changes on the general state of the organism, in particular thedevelopment of various disbalances and deficiencies.
