Overview
In the overview article the authors show the diagnostic and therapeutic possibilities in patientswith the functional gastric dyspepsia. According to the incidence, the functional gastricdyspepsia forms the leader disorder, which occurs in the gastrointestinal tract. The etiologyand patogenetic mechanisms are still unknown, but abnormal gastric motility and the visceralhypersensitivity are proposed. The diagnostic approach is difficult and the positive diagnosisis very rare. The therapeutic armametarium involves psychotherapy, dietary restrictions andthe drug treatment (prokinetics, anacids, antisecretor drugs, musculotropic spasmolytics andpsychopharmacologic drugs). We discuss some advantages and indications in the medicamenttreatment. We must stress that the long therm positive results are reached only in the minorityof the patients.
