Overview

Asthma is the most common chronic disease in children, characterized by chronic airway inflammation. The diagnosis of asthma should be based on the history of characteristic symptom patterns and evidence of variable airflow limitation. Pharmacotherapy with regular low dose inhaled corticosteroids is higly effective in reducing asthma symptoms and reducing the risk of asthma-related exacerbations, hospitalization and death.

Key words:
asthma, children, variable airflow limitations, low dose inhaled corticosteroids
