Atypical Melanocytic Lesions: An Update

Overview

The genome of melanocytic lesions and its changes determinate their morphology and biological behaviour. Intermedial lesions are situated between nevi and melanomas, and they are difficult to be diagnosed. Melanocytomas have been separated from other atypical melanocytic lesions on the basis of new molecular-biological studies which have changed their classification. The article updates the topic of atypical melanocytic lesions from the point of diagnosis, therapy, and follow-up.
