Overview
To date, there has been no explicit answer to the question, whether treatment with tumor necrosis factor (TNF) alpha antagonists increases the risk of development, progression or reactivation of tumorous diseases. This report presents a theoretical basis for a possible effect of TNF blocking on cancerogenesis. In addition, it provides a review of available published data on the risk of malignant conditions in patients treated with TNF antagonists.
