An author presents contemporary possibilities in diagnosing of caries in herarticle. Besides conventional methods such as visual inspection with probing whereby we candetect later stages of dental caries, she describes possibilities of preventive bite-wing radio-graphs which are often omitted in our country. Further, she puts her mind to more recentmethods which use for diagnosing of caries up-to-date devices, some of them are able to quantifycaries extent definitely. Such as fiber-optic transillumination – FOTI, endoscopic methods,electrical conductivity measurement by Electronic Caries Monitor, and measurement of opticalchanges of caries lesion by laser fluorescence detector Diagnodent. Author describes her ownexperiences with the last mentioned device.
