Overview
Using a RIAI questionnaire-A assessing in individuals incongruousness (in-ternal controversies) the authors investigated a group of 90 Czech and Ger-man alcohol dependent subjects. The data were recorded soon afterdetoxification and at the onset of voluntary in-patient treatment. The trendsamong Czech and German patients assessed by means of the RIAI-A questi-onnaire are mostly identical. The relatively greatest stress for them are seri-ous life events. As far as significant differences between Czech and Germansubjects are concerned, the authors found four significant differences (t-test). In favour of the Czech sample the authors recorded a difference in therange „attitude to disease - perceptin of own part“ (0.05 level of significance),„strategy of coping with incongruousnesses and incongruent tolerance“ (0.05level of signif.) and „occurrence of psychopathological symptoms in the past“(0.05 level of signif.). In favour of the German sample is a higher „actualpathogenic load“ (0.01 level of signif.).The presented findings must be taken as the first stimuli for contemplation, which are the result of empirical research which is proceeding.
