Dear colleagues,

when we were thinking of what might be the content in this issue, we remembered the past event of the year – Annual Congress of the Czech Society of Plastic Surgery. We all experienced the congress as an inspirational professional meeting and we consider the congress as very successful in terms of scientific content, with a great number of high scientific level lectures, and in terms of organizational and social level. Therefore, we decided to select a few, in our opinion, most interesting lectures and offer them to our readers, who were unable to attend the congress.

This issue of the journal, however, is not an ordinary congress supplementum. We requested all authors of the selected lectures to expand their (sometimes brief) original abstract to improve clarity and attractiveness of their message and to enrich the articles with visual documentation and the most important references. You can therefore make a sufficiently precise opinion about the topics of all the interesting presentations even if you were not at the congress personally. Therefore, some of the new techniques or practical experiences of the authors or team of authors can inspire you. On the other hand, all published extended abstracts were not peer-reviewed, and they express the opinion or experiences of their original authors. Abstracts are published in English and simultaneously in Czech language. The reason for this is our effort to make information from the congress available to the widest range of readers, including those who are not able to read English at a sufficient level, or on the other hand for those, who want to test their translation skills.

Next year we would like to publish totally four regular journal issues, if possible partially thematically focused. The year 2016 will be characterized also by our increased effort for an economic stabilization of the journal, which is not possible without the support of the advertisers and the Czech Medical Association. We also hope that we will be able to launch an online abstract submission service on the web pages of www.prolekare.cz.

I wish all our readers, authors, reviewers and editorial board good luck in 2016 and of course I wish everybody inspiring reading.
