Overview

Lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS) include a large spectrum of complaints (storage, voiding and post micturition). Different algorithms have been devised to address these symptoms and their causes. However, work up of LUTS must be individualized for each patient, and should start with a thorough medical history and physical exam; followed by complimentary studies which include but is not limited to urinalysis and culture (UA/ UC), cystoscopy, urodynamics, renal and bladder ultrasound on a case by case basis. Same concept applies to different treatment options.

Key words:
voiding dysfunction, lower urinary tract symptoms, overactive bladder, incontinence, urethral stricture
