Overview
There has long been a need for a worthy alternative to transurethral resection of prostate (TURP); a procedure that provides the same symptomatic improvement as TURP, but avoids the perioperative morbidity. The holmium laser has been extensively studied, and has been proven to indeed be an excellent alternative to both TURP and open prostatectomy. This article reviews Holmium Laser Enucleation of the Prostate (HoLEP).
