During the last roughly 15 years efforts of drug manufacturers to base their arguments onscientific evidence of effectiveness and safety of their drugs are of increasing importance andintensity. Drugs, medicinal products are presented as goods but also as a spiritual property theuse of which will be of benefit to the prescribing physician from the professional, scientific aspectand finally also as the material substance of the therapeutic effect which is of interest to thepatient, the health care provider and payer. From all these aspects evidence-based therapy isdesirable. Preclinical testing and clinical evaluation of drugs is an essential prerequisite fortheir registration these. The author reflects on the problem how to write and how to read studies.
