Overview
The authors describe a life threatening infection with Streptococcus pneumoniae in a youngwoman with pneumonia complicated by the development of empyema, pericarditis and purulentmediastinitis. The authors describe the course of treatment incl. necessary thoracic drainage.Attention is drawn to possible preventive vaccination of subjects at risk.
