Role of procalcitonin in diagnostics of neonatal infection

Overview

Newborn bacterial infection is very serious complication, which influences significantly morbidity and mortality in negative way. This article summarises problems of infection and sepsis diagnosis with aiming at the role of Procalcitonin. Procalcitonin as on of many laboratory markers is very sensitive indicator of infection with fast kinetic.
