Authors: P. Koliba;  M. Petzel

Overview

The authors in their work deal with the relationship between multiple cerebrospinal sclerosis (MS) and hormonal contraception. Since MS affects the women in productive age, this issue is highly topical. The influence of hormonal factors on the course of MS is known, although its mechanism is only mediated by the influence on immune system. The authors also present the published possible interaction of drugs used at MS with hormonal contraception and they state that the negative influence of hormonal contraception on MS has not been proved.

Key words:
multiple cerebrospinal sclerosis – hormonal contraception – estrogens – drugs interaction – family planning
