Rare Congenital Neck Anomaly: Aneurysm of the Jugular Vein

Overview

Anomaly of the jugular veins is usually present in children as a soft cystic swelling in the neck during crying or screaming. In the literature are used terms phlebectasia, venous aneurysm, venous cyst or ectasia of jugular vein. The diagnosis is suggested by clinical features and can be confirmed by noninvasive radiology. There are presented two cases of aneurysm of the internal jugular vein, in one child associated with aneurysm v. jugularis anterior and discuss its management and differential diagnosis.
