Overview

In organ preservation protocols the management of neck dissection is still unclear. There is no suitable tool for exclusion of neck metastases persistence. On our group of patients we have assessed the value of PET and CT diagnostics. Our PET results showed high specificity and high positive predictive value. Relatively low negative predictive value did not confirm the possibility for PET being a tool for indication of neck dissection.

Key words:
PET, organ preservation protocol, head and neck cancer, lymphadenopathy, neck metastasis.
