Overview
The authors present opinions of three generations of otolaryngologists, who are able to evaluate the development in otorhinolargology for the period longer than 50 years. All of them began their work at the same workplace and their opinions are not limited by spectrum, extent or evaluation of small numbers of endonasal interventions, which are presently performed at the Clinic of Otorhinolaryngology and Head and Neck Surgery at Pardubice, Czech Republic. Based on their experience they arrived at the conclusion that the operation according to Caldwell-Luc is still justified and can be, in certain rather infrequent cases, used even as a method of choice as compared to nasal surgery. Therefore, it should not be considered as an outdated operation or even an operation non lege artis.
