From what age should be alcohol consumption permitted?

Overview
Drinking alcohol threatens the healthy development of adolescents in many ways. From a health point of view, it would be appropriate to raise the drinking age to 21, as is the case in the USA. For the sake of interest, we add that the age limit was raised from 18 to 20 in Lithuania as well. We consider proposals to lower the drinking age from 18 to 16 to be extremely inappropriate. This weakens the authority of parents and schools in the prevention of harm caused by alcohol among teenagers. In the Czech Republic, alcohol in wine and beer is not adequately taxed. This contributes to the low price of alcoholic beverages and their high consumption. The alcohol in the mentioned drinks should be taxed more and the age limit for drinking alcohol should be increased, or at least maintained.
