Overview
Objective: The main objective is to identify trends in social and health care, which are offered in nursing homes existing in the Czech Republic.
Aim: The aim is to identify trends in social and health care, which are offered in nursing homes existing in the Czech Republic.
Methodology: The target group is composed by 21 informants – directors of elderly homes and different professionals (mostly social workers) who are realizing social and health care for elderly in nursing homes existing in the Czech Republic. The authors used qualitative research strategy with technique of focus group. Data collection was realized from May to August 2018 and were processed in program ATLAS.ti 7. For data interpretation was used method of open, axial and selective coding with aim to find grounded theory, if it is possible. The results are represented by schemes with literal expressions of informants.
Results: According to the results, the informants' orientation towards client care is evident in order to use an individual approach in the activation of clients, but also their eminent interest in realizing such an approach. However, they are aware of obstacles and conditions that they do not always allow such care.
Conclusion: The main trends in health and social care for seniors in nursing homes, according to the views of directors and workers in these facilities, clearly include a wide range of activation methods, concepts and activities, but with an emphasis on individual interest and users’ potential.
