Overview
The Court of Justice of the EU in its decisions and opinions after a long 15 years, had been setting out patients’ rights to reimbursement of cross-border treatment on the principle of free movement of services. Yet, the European Union was preparing legislation that was crowned with success on the day of March 9, 2011 by adoption of European Parliament and Council Directive 2011/24/EU on the application of patients' rights in cross-border healthcare, this Directive was implemented into national legal standards Law No. 60/2014 Coll. amending Act no. 48/1997 Coll., on public health insurance. The purpose of this article is to raise awareness of patient mobility.
