One year experience with dependence degree assessment for the purpose of care allowance

Overview
Since 1st January 2012, new medical assessment criteria have been used for the purposes of dependence degree assessment regarding care allowance. The aggregation of the existing 36 actions of self-care and self-sufficiency into the 10 basic needs – mobility, orientation, communication, self-feeding, putting on clothes and footwear, washing oneself, toileting, looking after one’s health, personal activities, and household tasks – will lead to a significant clarification in the assessment of the degree of dependence. Based on the one-year experience with the new assessment criteria, the model proved efficient and has been an asset to all clients, especially to children and patients with the most serious disabilities. A new concise and comprehensible system has thus been created, which provides ground for the application of personalised medicine in the field of medical assessment service.
