Overview

The results of epidemiological studies suggest that drinking coffee may help prevent several chronic diseases, such as diabetes mellitus type 2, Parkinson’s disease and liver disease. Coffee consumption may reduce the incidence of any type of cancer.

However, coffee contains certain substances that raise cholesterol levels, therefore it is recommended that we consume filter coffee. Pregnant or lactating women should be limited to 3cups/day.

Key words:
coffee, caffeine, diseases prevention, diabetes mellitus, Parkinson’s disease, cancer.
