In the review is presentedthe basic symptomatology and description of the diagnostic (incl. sonography) and therapeuticprocedures in puerperal and non-puerperal infectious diseases of the breast and infectiouspostoperative complications including measures in the regimen, and instructions on the propertechnique of breast feeding. Special attention is paid to the strategy of antibiotics therapy. It isproper to refer recurrent and complicated inflammations to specialized facilities.Infections of the breast apart of the lactation period are unusual. The physician should, therefore, take into consideration that it may be due to a tumours affection namely in cases ofrecurrence and not responding to therapy. Although the breast gland is no longer at theperiphery of interest, as it had been in the past, increased attention should be paid to it in viewof the fact that breast carcinoma is the most frequent malignancy in females.
