Overview

A prepuce which canot be retracted is a great problem. As a rule it dos not cause problems to the patient but to the child’s environment, and sometimes unfortunately also to doctors. The patient’s complaints are then caused usually secondarily by unnecessary activities of the surroundings. The authors explain the terms conglutination and phimosis. The authors recommend a maximally conservative procedure, in particular in the first line and the family. A more active approach, i.e. dissolution or surgery should be entrusted to an experienced paediatric surgeon and child urologist. The authors react to a case-report published in Praktický lékaø 5, 2000, p. 261 (Case of a „damaged“ child).

Key words:
phimosis - conglutination - informations - surgery
