Overview
TVT (Tension-free Vaginal Tape) is a new miniinvasive therapeutic method for stress incontinence in women. It is implemented under local anaesthesia: a special Prolen tape is placed tension-free transvaginally beneath the median portion of the urethra. The authors evaluate their initial experience with this method in a group of the first 10 patients operated at the Urological Clinic of the Third Medical Faculty, Charles University Prague where the diagnosis of urethral incompetence was established. All patients were after an average period of 6 months following TVT surgery continent, the mean duration of the operation was 32 minutes and the mean period of hospitalization 1.4 days.
