Overview

The present article focuses on the perception of bone marrow transplantation in children as experienced by children’s parents. Applying a thematic analysis of interviews made with parents of children patients, the authors identify and examine sources of support drawn upon the parents through the trying times at Bone Marrow Transplantation Unit. Of special interest were changes in lifestyle of families with a transplanted child and reactions of their neighbourhood to the transplantation.
