The investigation is concerned with violent injuries in Prague preschool and school children. The investigatedgroup comprised a total of 10 781 children incl. 1472 preschool children and 9309 school children. Injuries whichresulted from conflicts between children were suffered in Prague by 5.9% preschool children and 9.6% schoolchildren. The authors recorded injuries which occurred in the course of one calendar year, i.e. injuries calling formedical treatment. The most frequent type of injuries in school children are fractures, distorsions and luxationswhich account for 51.9% violent injuries in girls and 47.4% in boys. In preschool children the most frequent typeof violent injuries are injuries of the body surface which account for 33.3% in boys and 20.8% in girls. For schoolchildren the greatest risk is at school where more than half the violent injuries occur - 51.6% in boys and 51.9%in girls. In preschool children themajority of injuries occur at home. A significantly higher incidence was recordedin boys. As compared with districts outside Prague the incidence of violent injuries in Prague is higher in schoolage as well as preschool age.
