Objective: Review of the contemporary knowledge about the aromatase P 450 in the uterine fibroid cells and about possibilities to use the aromatase inhibitors in the treatment of uterine fibroids.
Design: Review of the literature.
Setting: Obstetrics and Gynecology Department, Regional Hospital Pardubice.
Conclusion: The aromatase P-450 in the uterine fibroid cells has a large effect on the autocrinne potentiation of growing this tumor. There is a very probable possibility to use the aromatase inhibitors for the treatment of the uterine fibroids.
