Overview

The effect of the abiotic elicitors CuSO4 and CdCl2 on the production of flavonoids in the callus culture of Ononis arvensis after 24; 48 and 168-hour administration was examined. The tested elicitors markedly influenced the production of flavonoids in this culture. A statistically significant increase in the production of flavonoids was recorded with the use of a CdCl2 solution in a concen- tration of 0.5 mg.l -1 and a concentration of 0.05 mg.l -1 after 48 hours of cultivation, in a concentration of 0.005 mg.l -1 after 24 and 48 hours of cultivation. In a CuSO4 solution in a concentration of 0.5 mg.l -1 it was after both 48 and 168 hours. The highest increase in the level of flavonoids was found after elicitation of CdCl2 in a concentration of 0.005 mg–l -1

Key words:
