Overview
In the submitted paper the authors present an account on the importance ofultrasonographic examination by the method of standardized echography forearly and correct establishment of the diagnosis scleritis posterior. They mentionthe echographic image of posterior scleritis and the specific acoustic criteriawhich are important from the aspect of the differential diagnosis. They analyzedifferences of the echographic image in posterior scleritis, melanoma of thechoroid, metastatic carcinoma of the choroid and haemangioma of the choroid. When knowing the specific acoustic criteria the success rate of diagnosing posteriorscleritis is high. The diagnosis is important for provision of adequate treatmentand prevention of ophthalmological complications. Standardizedechography is a non-invasive examination method suitable not only for assessmentof the diagnosis of posterior scleritis but also for check-up examinationsand follow up of the effectiveness of therapy.
