The author presents the personality of Dr Pavel Žalud, a pioneer of the anaesthesiology specialty in Czechoslovakia and a founder of the specialty at the Masaryk Regional Hospital in Ústí nad Labem. His name is born by the regular spring meeting of anaesthetists and intesivists.
