Rok 2006–2007 probíhal ve znamení výročí 160 let provádění prvních celkových inhalačních anestezií v jednotlivých zemích a 50 let od Safarovy publikace metody dýchání z plic do plic. V celkové anestezii nejsou žádné převratné novinky. Asi nejvíce publikací k jedné látce se týkalo sugammadexu a diskusí o reziduální svalové relaxaci. Dalším relativně nově diskutovaným tématem je neurotoxicita celkových anestetik. Na závěr je podán výčet některých nových přehledných článků.
