Šestapadesátiletý diabetik s polytraumatem zemřel pod obrazem septického šoku. Před smrtí vznikla nekróza nosního křídla. Nekroptické vyšetřeníprokázalo generalizovanou mukormykózu. Klíčem k časné diagnóze může být průkaz hyfů v biopsii z nekroptické kůže.
